Glossary of Web Terms

An advertising banner, an image, or Flash movie that has multiple frames and movement. Generally, GIF images are the only format that can support animations. Flash also supports animations, although the content is not (easily) optimized for search engines. Back on the old school internet, GIF animations were abundantly common and often times overused.
